British rock band Coldplay opened the BBC Music Awards 2014 with their performance of “A Sky Full of Stars” from the album ‘Ghost Stories’, which begun with Chris Martin singing the opening hook while walking down an illuminated runway stretching from the backstage area to the stage.
Ed Sheeran and Pharrell Williams came out as big winners of the night after receiving British Artist of the Year and Best International Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.
The ceremony also saw performances from One Direction, Take That, Clean bandit, Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran and Calvin Harris held at Earls Court in London in front of a live audience of 13,500 people.
